Family Reunion Send-Off
Mom and Dad came into Salt Lake City for a few days before they headed to the MTC. Before you knew it, we had every one of their kids in town. Even when we went to the temple, siblings were showing up that we didn't even know or expect to see. We had a great "BYU Day" where we all hiked the Y together (we couldn't believe that neither Mom or Dad had ever done that hike before). Some of the grandkids helped "push" Mom all the way up the mountain. Then, we all ate lunch in the CougarEat and then scalped 22 tickets to the BYU Football Game.
We had a special dinner (Dad's famous curry rice) at the Pratt's house and a devotional that evening where we all shared some of our advice for Mom and Dad for their mission. Robbie had heard a lesson in young mens class that day about how working hard can be the best cure for when you are nervous or anxious, which felt like it meant a lot to Mom especially since she has been so anxious. Robbie is a young man of few words, but he's more observant and wise than people give him credit for (very similar to his mom and Grandpa Carl Haynie).
Mariam and I (Ryan) took Mom and Dad to airport very early in the morning. They were both pretty loopy from being up so late packing. To be fair, they were taking some supplies for the mission office and President and Sister Lewis, but still...the suitcase and packing drama was REAL.
